Round Three of the Ducati Superbike Concorso was the toughest one so far, at least the judges thought so. Because of the high concentration of truly great "vintage" Ducatis in this area of the country round three was the shootout of the "Originals". Add to that the stunning modified entry's and it was the perfect recipe for some really hard decisions. Join me for a tour....

Johnny Cole brought his 1999 748S to Mid Ohio as a family affair. His daughter (near with her back to the lens) is a budding Ducatisti. She just got her motorcycle license and has a serious eye on Dad's bike already. John uses this bike as both a daily rider AND a WERA racebike on weekends.
That's Robert Lawrence's 1974 750SS "green frame". You don't have to know much about Ducati's to know this model is an Icon and a good one is hard to beat. Nobody did beat this one - it was best in show so you'll see this one in Laguna too.
That's Jim Dillard Jr.'s Santa Monica 750 F1. It's the only one I have ever seen in the US, In the background is Rick Keuper's immaculate 1983 Mike Hailwood Replica
Subhi Barakat brought his 2005 749 complete with Carbon windscreen. His enthusiasm for his bike charmed everybody that met him.
It was also pretty good for meeting new friends. :-) That's one of the Desmohio group checking out Subhi's Ducati
John Avelluto's 2005 999 Ducati Day Daytona Concorso winner was the best example of attention to detail possibly in the whole bunch. The more you looked the more you found to admire. Here's what the bike description card said:
1 of 31 yellow 2005 999's imported in 05. This one was treated to what should have been done from the factory. All of the components that were once silver or gray are now blacked out, by methods that are factory correct. Also there are painted number boards and tri-color stripes that represent the colors of the Italian flag, birth place of this beautiful machine.Every square mm of this motorcycle has been gone over. Most of the work was carried out by yours truly am not a m/c shop owner or a high performance parts vendor/dealer, just a pizza man with a great passion for Ducati! and I feel like this one shows. This machine is ridden daily and has almost 12,000 miles on it.This beautiful machine won in the superbike category at Ducati day Daytona 07
